The simplicity of the operation of the car navigation system is the goal pursued by the designers. In fact, it also involves a safety problem, because drivers are not allowed to look at the electronic map while driving. Therefore, the designers consider developing voice and voice recognition technology for the application needs of the car navigation system. Users issue instructions through voice instead of key operation to enable the navigation system to complete the corresponding work. The navigation system sends signals or instructions to drivers through voice instead of image text. For example, Toyota Weichi Navigation System is a navigation system with voice technology, which can give voice prompts at turning intersections and other places.

The key to the promotion and application of automobile navigation system is electronic map. When purchasing a vehicle equipped with navigation system, users can also get a CD-ROM with electronic map. After turning on the vehicle navigation system, the user must insert this CD-ROM into the CD drive of the navigation device. When the system needs road information, it will get it on the CD-ROM. For example, Toyota Weichi DVD navigation system is like this. It has a DVD drive under the front passenger seat to read electronic map DVD discs. With the urban and rural construction and road changes, the electronic map CD will also be replaced regularly. However, even the latest version of the electronic map cannot be guaranteed to be accurate. In this case, the car navigation system

It is also necessary to add some auxiliary support systems. At present, in regions where car navigation systems are widely used (such as Europe, America and Japan), call centers or public transport information stations established by car companies or other commercial companies can provide the latest traffic information sent to the navigation equipment on the car through SMS or GSM mobile communication, and can modify the electronic map information on the car at any time.
