At the beginning of GPS design, designers only used 10bit to characterize
WN, resulting in WN only cycling between 0-1023. So GPS has an independent
system for calculating date and time, measured in weeks, with seconds
representing the satellite's position. When WN changes from 1023 to 0, there
will be a GPS cycle flip, leading to the saying of welcoming a new week. 1024
weeks corresponds to approximately 19.7 years in the first half of the year.
Starting from the starting time of the GPS system, the last GPS week reversal
occurred on August 21, 1999, and this time it happened to be April 6, 2019. The
next GPS week reversal will occur on November 20, 2038.
What is the impact of GPS reset on car locators?
For GPS locators that use GPS timing, resetting the GPS may cause
inaccurate GPS time and result in data disruption.
Has the Yuchexing GPS locator been affected by GPS reset?
Clearing the GPS did not have any impact on the Yuchexing GPS locator.
Will Beidou satellite positioning reset?
In fact, the Beidou system in China also has the problem of BD cycle
flipping. However, in the design, the cycle count is expressed in 13bits, and
the flipping cycle is 8192 cycles, which is approximately 160 years, effectively
avoiding this problem. As long as it is a satellite navigation system, there is
a cycle flipping problem, but the cycle time varies.
