　　The GPS satellite constellation consists of 24 satellites, of which 21 are working satellites and 3 are backup satellites. 24 satellites are evenly distributed on 6 orbital planes, with 4 satellites on each orbital plane. The inclination angle of the satellite's orbital plane relative to the Earth's equatorial plane is 55 °, and the right ascension of the ascending intersection points of each orbital plane differs by 60 °. A satellite on one orbital plane has an ascending intersection angle 30 ° ahead of the corresponding satellite on the adjacent orbital plane to the west. The purpose of this layout is to ensure that at least four satellites can be observed at any location and time around the world.
