　　Since China's first man-made satellite was put into orbit in 1970, 30 different satellites have been launched, creating favorable conditions for the space survey work of New China. In the early 1980s, some universities and research institutions in China began to study GPS (Global Positioning System). In the past 10 years, China has done a lot of work and accumulated a lot of experience in the basic theoretical research and application development of GPS surveying and mapping.

　　In the mid-1980s, China launched the first GPS receiver. Up to now, China has thousands of GPS receivers. However, the application level of GPS in China is still far from that in developed countries. The development of China's GPS industry is restricted: backward, GPS receiver chips, China's semiconductor industry mainly relies on imports for several problems, China has few monitoring stations, communication equipment and technology are not up to standard, basic geographic information is poorly updated, and it can not work well with the electronic map of GPS.

　　Another important issue cannot be ignored. The United States has repeatedly stressed that it will provide the world with GPS for free, but in fact, it has taken some measures, namely, artificially destroying the accuracy of the signal and increasing the error rate of the GPS signal, so other countries cannot accurately obtain accurate data. Chinese scientists have established GPS tracking stations in Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an and other places to accurately determine the orbit of GPS satellites, so as to make the data more accurate. However, in the final analysis, we need to have our own global positioning system. We need to research and develop our own satellites and receivers, so that we can make full use of the global positioning system in our daily life more effectively and create a more convenient and safe environment for our people's travel and tourism.

　　In recent years, private cars in many cities in China, such as Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dongguan, etc., have been equipped with GPS monitoring systems, and all tourist buses in Beijing have been equipped with GPS global positioning systems. GPS is more closely related to our daily life.
