GPS satellites continuously send different information through the RF frequency band. For example, satellites are equipped with extremely precise atomic clocks. The distance from the fourth satellite is used to compensate for the time error of the GPS receiver clock. So, the GPS receiver calculates its geographic location by calculating its distance from three GPS satellites, and uses the distance from other GPS satellites for correction and accuracy. If the receiver can see at least 4 GPS satellites, it is said to be in a locked or positioned state. By calculating the distance from at least four satellites, the GPS receiver can accurately locate their geographic location (latitude and longitude) and current (UTC) timestamp.
