Due to the GPS_ The GPRS positioning system involves the application of GPS satellite positioning technology and GPRS general packet radio service. Therefore, in the composition of the system, GPS and GPRS are undoubtedly the core departments of the whole system. The following is a brief introduction to the GPS system and GPRS system on the premise of application.

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a new generation of satellite navigation and positioning system developed by the United States since the 1970s, which took 20 years, cost 20 billion dollars, was fully built in 1994, and has the ability to conduct all-round real-time three-dimensional navigation and positioning at sea, land, and air.

GPRS is the standard for packet data in the GSM system of the European Telecommunications Association. It adopts channel bundling (the current GPRS design can realize bundling in one carrier frequency or eight channels) and enhanced data rate improvement to achieve high-speed access. Theoretically, it can provide up to 115 kbps of air interface transmission rate, enabling several mobile users to share a wireless channel at the same time, and a mobile user can also use multiple wireless channels. Users who do not actually send or receive packets only account for a small part of the network resources, and the network capacity is only occupied when actually transmitting.

In order to realize GPRS, it is necessary to introduce three new logical network entities into the existing GSM network: service GPRS support node (SGSN), gateway GPRS support node (GGSN) and packet control unit (PCU). The fundamental difference between GPRS and the existing GSM voice system is that GSM is a circuit switching system, while GPRS is a packet switching system. Therefore, GPRS is particularly suitable for intermittent, burst or frequent, small amount of data transmission, as well as occasional large data transmission. This feature is suitable for most mobile Internet applications.

Based on the above brief introduction of GPS system and GPRS system, we can get the GPS_ Composition and characteristics of vehicle terminal of GPRS positioning system. The system structure block diagram is shown in Figure 1, and the system workflow is: GPS_ The vehicle terminal of GPRS positioning system uploads the current GPS geographic location information acquired by it to the system server through GPRS. The client can monitor the position, speed and travel direction of the current monitored vehicle in real time through special GIS software or IE browsing mode, and can control the on-board terminal through the network to achieve two-way data transmission between the mobile vehicle and the monitoring center, and complete the monitoring of vehicle operation status, security status and technical status.
